Nostalgia Train
This was a series where I visually explored the feelings a song invoked in me. The song was Tongue Tied by Group Love and without researched what the song was supposed to be about I created these images by combining photos of household objects as well as photos of my two best friends. The song made me feel a lot of nostalgia so I picked objects that played a role in my childhood instead of the general concept of childhood memories. I included my best friends because I wish I had gotten to grow up with hem both.

The goal of this assignment was to make a series of images that related to a societal issue that makes a lot to you. I picked transphobia because it’s one of the only forms of discrimination that I personally have experience with. The first image is a reference to the iconic “silence = death” poster. The image with the bathrooms was a reference to several states making laws banning people from using the bathroom of their preferred gender expression. The bottom image was an expression of people forcing their idea of gender roles (or paint) onto me and my distaste for it. The bottom right one was am expression of how pretending to be a girl made me feel, despite my best efforts in my younger years to fit in I never really id and it always felt like more of a performance than being authentic.
