A Bat (and a fairy?)

These two are side characters for my Joseph project that didn’t make the final concept art. (I wanted to downsize the number of pages for the final to not overwhelm viewers.) Dela (right) is Joseph’s younger foster sister and Bruce (left) is her girlfriend.

I went into this illustration hoping to capture the character’s personalities with one pose/expression with minimal outside context clues as to who they are. I also wanted an excuse to make more blue based illustrations. (I love green but I need a break from her sometimes.) I didn’t use any particular references for the poses; I just went with what felt right. Bruce is usually chaotic and messy while Dela is generally more put together and the calmest member of their friend group. I used solely procreate to create these.
